Around the Farne Islands
Northumberland
October 2018
A surprise opportunity arose to go out to the islands on an evening tide with a group of ‘free swimmers’.
A stiff NE wind created choppy waters but we found shelter in a small bay close to the lighthouse. Then for 30 minutes or more, while the swimmers bobbed around among the seals and rock outcrops ,I sat in the boat drawing. There were seals everywhere - next time I’ll take a wetsuit!
I remember swimming with grey seals in the Scilly Isles 10 years ago so have included some of those drawings as well.
