In the Studio

Looking back through the field work from the Massingham project that I gathered during the SWLA residency last May I wanted to take some of the ideas a little further. One idea was from a day I spent at a field edge where in front of swathes of Ox-eye Daisies spread like a sheet of small white parabolas tracking the sun turned slowly tracking the sun as I sat sketching. Skylarks were singing and red kites drifted overhead, and then a pair shelduck passed their bold plumage bright against the dark hues of conifers on the far side of the field. Pulling all those elements together seemed like an idea worth exploring looking for the contrasts in the plumage trees and flowers using only forur coloured blocks.
