New Studio - March 2023 to Spring 2024

Planning permission took a while, and other hurdles had to be overcome before building the studio could begin.

A garden studio could be put up under Permitted Development rules but wanting to have my studio as close to the boundary as possible (1m) and to have a dual-pitched roof and as large as reasonably possible given the limitations of the site, the best way forward was to apply for planning permission.

If the internal floor area of the building is between 15 square metres and 30 square metres, you are not normally required to apply for building regulations approval, providing that the building contains no sleeping accommodation, and is either at least one metre from any boundary, or it is constructed substantially of non-combustible materials.
